What are others competency licenses can you apply ?
Wireman
Grade 2 is suited for skill and competent person to do electrical wiring installation under low voltage category of not greater than 240 volts, relates to residential, shop-lots and building.
Grade 1 is the next level for skill and competent person doing wiring installation under low voltage category of not greater than 440 volts, relates three phase wiring system for residential, shop-lots, factory and building.

Gred 2 sesuai untuk kemahiran dan orang yang cekap melakukan pemasangan pendawaian elektrik di bawah kategori voltan rendah tidak lebih daripada 240 volt, berkaitan dengan kediaman, lot kedai dan bangunan.
Gred 1 adalah tahap seterusnya untuk kemahiran dan orang yang cekap melakukan pemasangan pendawaian di bawah kategori voltan rendah tidak lebih daripada 440 volt, menghubungkan sistem pendawaian tiga fasa untuk kediaman, lot kedai, kilang dan bangunan.

Chargeman under voltage category Low Tension <1000 volts.
L1 (or Level 1) is another higher level of competency skilled electrician, facility technicians doing for building or factory power systems. The voltage supply is categorized under low voltage (LV) system where voltage supply not greater than 1000 volts. This competency license primarily task is to handle electrical switchboard and ensuring electrical power is restored whenever there is power outage.
L2 (or Level 2) is high level of competency person, doing works related to overhead lines or underground cable installation. This level of competency are categorized under low voltage (LV) not greater than 1000 volts.
Under ground cabling works - installation of power cables which sized more than 50mm.sq suited for main power cables from switchgear system to main switchboard LV (premise).
Over head lines - works relates to LT overhead lines installation and maintenance on public or private premise. This job required to climb high level to assess the overhead lines mainly visible on road sides. SESCO requires any competent person holder of L2 must register with SEB or SESCO for work field related.
L3 (or Level 3) is add-on competency skills mainly handling building or factory power generators. This competency level are mainly related to mechanical and electrical system operations and synchronization of two or more generators available in the system premise. Anyone with good knowledge of mechanical and engine driven system may further their career in this trade which high in demands.
L4 (or Level 4) is new competency license is born in 2016, this add-on skill trade is relates to solar photovoltaic system installations. This new competency license requires competency Chargeman L1 and Wireman as minimum entry. The overall system is direct current voltage category.
Off grid system - commonly for own usage of power generated from sunlight.
Grid connect system - this depending on owner power generated is connected to public grid system. This will benefits the owner by leveraging day time electricity consumption with night time usage. Any CM-L4 contractor apply to the grid system must then register with SEB or SESCO for the connection works from overhead lines.
Chargeman under voltage category High Tension > 1000 volts.
H1 is a higher level of competency skilled handling electrical substation and auxiliaries system. This required understanding of handling voltage greater than 1000 volts. Any experience contractors handling such high voltage required to register with SEB or SESCO for future liaised relevant projects on substation system.
H2 is high level of competency person, doing works related to overhead lines or underground cable installation. This level of competency are categorized under high voltage (HV) greater than 1000 volts.
Under ground cabling works - installation of power cables which sized more than 50mm.sq suited for main power cables from switchgear system to main switchgear HV (substation premise).
Over head lines - works relates to HT overhead lines installation and maintenance on transmission line (HV~EHV). This job required to climb high level to assess the HT overhead lines mainly visible on road sides.
H3 is add-on competency skills mainly HV power generators. Anyone competent person with mechanical engineer background and sound good knowledge of mechanical engine driver system may further their career business in this field trade.
Electrical Supervisor (ES)
Sarawak Electricity Rules and Regulation 1999 - Rule 48
Any competent person with working experience at least 5 years handling site project electrical installation may apply this competency license. Diploma holder in electrical engineering. Before can apply for the ES, competent person must have valid license:
Wireman Grade 1 or Grade 2
Chargeman L1
Examination mode: Interview
Competent Electrical Engineer (CE)
Sarawak Electricity Rules and Regulation 1999 - Rule 47
Must have working experience not less than 5 years and obtain recognized degree from local institution or university. Such holder must have registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia.
Examination mode: Interview
Before competency license is issued to Competent Person
After you have completed any competency training with reconized training institution and have taken and PASS the competency examination. Next steps is to complete the following task listed below.
